so how rules-wise would you other dms handle the deminishing of war magic in faerun mentioned in crucible? so mystra made war magic less powerful for a time and i think of incorporate this event in my campaign. i think of making all damaging spells one lvl higher (fireball being then a fourth lvl spell), but that would prevent lower lvl caster from casting them. or change the damage dice to one lower perhaps. should it be just damaging spells or some other spells, too? or should just some magic users be the ones to suffer this deminishing? |

Yeah, in the beginning she was battling some other god, because he was evil, right? Which one was that again? And who made her stop? Ao? |

Posted - 17 Apr 2005 : 04:51:53 I would say, for gaming, lowering the die would be one of the better ways to do it, or reducing area's of effect for spells of such nature. Making the save DC's for those spells lower is another way.. or for spells that allow a reflex save for half dmg, perhaps make the save for 3/4 dmg instead (meaning the victim only takes 1/4 dmg). Making casting times longer (saying that, said spells have become more difficult to cast, as opposed to weaker) is another way I can think of... so many possibilities.

Posted - 17 Apr 2005 : 04:46:31 That could be fun. You could lower the amount of die, which is what I would do to start off. Also you could have it so they have to roll a concentration check maybe to cast/maintain the spell. There are a few ways you could mess around with it, so have fun and be creative .
