I want to know what everyone thinks of this campaign idea i have.

Drow clerics from the Nether Mountains have somehow been able to break through the Moon Elf spells that was placed upon the ruins of Hellgate Keep and have summoned a portal from the material plane to the astral plane where many evil minions, namely Lolth minions, have appeared and are massing to destroy the High Forest.

What does everyone think?

Totally agree with you on that one. Although it might just be that Lolth is wanting to retun to the surface to take out any follower of her beloved sister.

Sister? I didn't know Lolth had a sister... If you're referring to Eilistraee, she's Lolth's daughter.

Ehhmmm...I meant daughter. Eilistraee is Vhaeraun's sister

i didn't mean to say they were foolhardy i was merely replying to the point that they needed a good reason to invade the area and the reasons i gave were i believe good reasons. We all know the drow have an undying hatred for the surface elves and expanding their own realms especially into the realms of ancient moon and wood elf empires would be a good reason to attack an area such as the High Forest especially with a place like Hellgate Keep to use as your base of operations and possibly summon Outsiders to help your cause like LordAnki said

plus what you qouted me on was sarcastic

Is that their goal? To gain territory? To gain powerful elven magical items? Yes, they would need a tangible reason to take such a risk. Otherwise, why invade an area that has a large number of forces within and nearby that would react to such an invasion? They are drow. That makes them evil, not foolhardy.

1. their drow
2. drow are evil

But, still what is the motivation of the drow? Revenge on the drow that serve Eilistraee? Rumors about a planned surface attack on one of their cities (so their attack is a preamptive strike)? Or just task Lolth gave them (she wants to see who survive, because she only wants the best drow to serve her)?

Depending upon the time of the campaign they could also be taking advantage of the High Forest's situation following events within The Forsaken House novel.

Well, so far no. LOL. Besides the Treant that guards the northern part of THF no. They are going to battle in The Nameless Dungeon though. And the drows are going to battle in several levels of the underdark. to level up their characters. I usually just go with the flow and do random generations because i usually have a character there.

Lord Anki,

That sounds like an overflowing campaign. Have you decided what organizations/groups in the High Forest your players will come into contact with?
LordAnki Posted - 14 Apr 2005 : 12:07:51
Well I have decided because I have like 14 people wanting to play in the campaign lol but that theres gonna be a Drow PC party and they have to campaign to defeat the shield and summon the evil demons, and then the good PC party is going to have to campaign and then eventually they will all come into a battle. I have Drow Clerics and Sorcerers and then i have just whatever the good characters want but they can't be Evil. They have to be either neutral or good. But it is going to be really interesting. DNDOG needs to fix their 'Make a game' script though.

There are drow living in the area of the western High Forest, near the mountains there. I'm sure they would have an opinion in regards to this plot.

There are many power groups in and around the forest to get involved in this storyline, if you want a lot of complexity. Wilderness and intrigue. That would be an interesting mix.
elven_songstress Posted - 12 Apr 2005 : 05:52:00
Either way I think that there are going to be some pretty pissed off people in that area if you try to destroy it. It would be an interesting read however.

Yes, I'm too curious about the motivation for the drow to destroy the High Forest. And which side are your players going to be on in this conflict?
Snotlord Posted - 11 Apr 2005 : 12:14:05
It sounds cool, and you should have no problem finding material to draw on for that region. Forsaken House, Lost Empires of Faerun, The Silence of Lolth books and the various 2e The North products comes to mind.

Throw some shadovar and the Knights of Silver into the mix, and you have a classic.
