I'm running a game, and the players have dont some piddly stuff so far, stop some raiding orcs, rescue this guy's son etc. I need help with ideas of more important stuff to do before my major event: sending them back to myth drannor at it's height. theyll lose the use of dalereckoning and stuff, and the halfling's race may change or something. dunno yet.

I dont know what I can have them do other than this piddly stuff. I need some things that tie in with the time warp or with myth drannor in general. one character is a drow from myth drannor worships eilistraee so that isnt bad. but i need more plot events relating to myth drannor.

Any ideas?
if you can help thx. campaign yeat 1381 dr if it makes any difference.

I LIKE It!

and as for the orc becoming an elf, I doubt hell want to, but I also doubt that the drow will want to. They are also free to stay in their present forms. however, they will be warned during the time travel that they are likely to be killed if they appear aa an orc and a drow.

hence the amusement.

This is the first time I post here. Hello everyone. I read with interest but never felt like posting until now.

Here is the idea:

The PCs are approached by harpers but unknowingly (BTW I thought of that before I saw your post about harpers and the cult of the dragon stuff lol) . Some agents of the invaders try to stop the harpers from making contact with the PCs.

Anyway, they are dragged as far away as possible from Myth Drannor, just for the sake of it ;)

The reason why the Harpers try to make contact with them and why the opposing agents try to too is because the PCs (or some other band of adventurers from an alternate "reality"/"turn of event") sent a letter to themselves from the past. The harpers and evil agents both got a copy of it. But the message was coded as a prophecy in order to avoid the evil guys to catch on first.

So both groups (harpers and evil guys) know a party was sent by the harpers in the past to avoid something profitable for the bad guys but they do not know the details. Each faction do NOT want to tell the PC else they wouldn't/or would go in the past. The evil guys wants to know as much as possible to perfect their plans and the good guys wants to abort it. Alternatively, both faction may not know that a group in the past is involved and they may find out only at the last moment.

The series of clues leads them to the unavoidable return in the past. However the series of clues says nothing about the fact that it's in the past. From the message it may appear as being another place. Each faction suspecting it hides a secret weapon or something (the secret weapon being the portal that leads to old Myth drannor).

So basically the idea is to have them running around in a fantasy-spy action quest that would lead them to "where" that is actually a "when".

wow!

you really get the PCs into Troubles, huh(adventure suggestion)???

As for the help from Mystra: are you sure that an orc would be eagerly tranformed into an...elf?
Sylrae Posted - 16 Mar 2005 : 18:39:17
I've determined how im sending them to the past already.

They are having problems with the cult of the dragon, and have to be allies with harpers (half of them are evil, and its fun watching them try to behave) anyhow the cult is going to turn a psychotic red dragon into a dracolich, and the dracolich is going to summon forth the legions of hell. a massive battle will ensue and the heroes will be sent through time to save their lives, the catsetr of the spell killed shortly afterward. the heroes wont know theyre in the past just that theyre in a different place. mystra will offer to turn them into elves on the trip there so they dont get attacked by the locals (a drow and an orc)lol. when in the past they will find out about the dragon and kill it before it becomes a dracolich, the thing will be ancient. they will return the realms to how it should be and in the process they will not be able to exist in the future. the dragon wil have done a series of things important for their lives and they will no longer be able to exist as they were in modern times. they will be trapped in the past to live out their lives there, unless they achieve immortality and wait it out.

My personal pathos as a wizard is history and, by means of chronomancy, the time travels.

Here's a couple of good stuff I came by while studying:

1)There is a sub-class of wizards called chronomancers. How about one of those as an NPC (guided by the DM of course) that needs a "special task" performed by a party? Perhaps they could save him at a time of peril and then he could intrigue them in a "travel" that would lead them to the past of Myth-Drannor.

2)The Infinite Staircase, appearing in the supplement For Duty and Deity. You might lead them there and let them roam a little in Time and end up at the Ancient Myth-Drannor.

I like the idea of searching for lost relics.

Other plot ideas:

Search and rescue: someone important was abducted and the trail led to the ruins or boy(s) from a village/town went to seek adventure in the ruins but was never heard from again so the worried parents hired the party to find out if he's still alive.

Treasure hunting: party comes across a map that shows the location of someone's private hidden stash.

The party accidently stumbles into a dragon's lair, the dragon was absent when the adventures were looting but comes back and catches them in the act. In return for a favour (ie heard about a magic artifact in the ruins that the dragon wants them to retrieve) it'll let the party go safely. To ensure that they do the task the dragon keeps a party member captive or could place a curse (that only the dragon can remove) on the party with a time limit.

Thx for the input man. I like the "history-related plot" idea. Maybe I could have them find an ancient broken sword and return it to its rightful owner, then when they go back in time they somehow acquire the sword before it was broken, possibly have them be the ones who end up breaking it.

I realize he will be difficult for elves to like, but, hes from cormanthor, which makes it easier to tie in because he'll know the area better. Anyways, talk to you all later

You have been read by me also.

Just not sure what to advise. However onething that comes to mind is if party explores current myth drannor ruins and then get sent back in time, they might figure it out quicker.

As for plots before the time shift that relate to the city, it strikes me that almost anythink in the area could done, it would not be so much fighting orcs or rescucing princesses by itself. The way to have tie ins would be more along the line of history ties. Perhaps as a back ground a myth about an item being made in the old city, an NPC that claims to be desenden of one of the noble families, perhaps retrieving items that were stolen that were believed to have been constucted in the good old days.

As for the Drow , there most likely will be unease in both times. Elves now do not want to believe there are good Drow and odds are that view has maintained since the Desent. If anything in the past odds are treatment and earning trust in the past will be a little harder then in the current time as a few elves now do accept the existance of Eilistraee.

I forgot to mention

I know why they are going to ancient Myth Drannor. something is going to be invading Faerūn and they will escape through a portal to ancient myth drannor to survive. they wont know theyre in the past till they figure it out themselves.

when in the past they will find out that they can stop whatever happened in the future from occurring, back in ancient myth drannor. like i read in cormanthor empire of elves, they will be faced with a choice, stop the evil forces and be stranded hundreds of years before they were born, or go back to their own time where faerūn is invaded.

they may not know that they could become trapped though.

now i need to figure out what im going to do with them up to that point. as wooly said, at some point they have to go to ruined myth drannor. but other than that im stumped.

The ideas that come immediately to mind...

First, they need to explore modern Myth Drannor before ancient Myth Drannor. That way they'll appreciate it more...

Perhaps they could also be researching things like particular residents of the city when it fell, or finding some lost lore?
