On the Epic Sorcerer, I noticed that He does not gain new spell slots, nor does he learn new spells. (Unless he takes the Spell Knowledge Feat) While the wizard still learns new spells every level.
Now, to my question:
If I allow an Epic Sorcerer to get new Known Spells every level, following the pattern left in the PHB, would that substantially unbalance the class? If so, are there any suggestions for a 'trade off'? |

Perhaps in roleplaying terms, it might push the PC to accept that as a sorcerer, they have gone as far as they can.
This need not be a bad thing, however.
Perhaps this lack of spell progression is because the sorcerers' bodies refuse to accept the Weave any further in its current form. This would lead the sorcerer to either seek out new inspiration, a new way to cast spells or even change their bodies so that they can learn new spells.
Maybe we've got a PrC in the works here...for sorcerers in this situation. This might be a good place for the makers of the game (HINT HINT HINT) to throw us a bone on the whole "dragon blood" question.
Personally this DM might rule that if a sorcerer reaches 20th and wants to learn new spells, she must find a way to embrace her draconic heritage and take in their natural affinity to the Weave....with consequences (physical and mental) of course.... |

No, it would not substantially unbalance the class.
However, it would greatly undermine the underpinnings of the epic progression system, as a sorcerer's spells known do not have a linear progression through non-epic levels, nor does it match with the spellcasting advancement for epic characters. |

I sort of thought that either the wizard stops getting automatic spells, or the sorcerer gets one per level. And don't forget the bard . . . . |
