That sounds vaguely familiar. Who knows perhaps the person is one of the scribes now frequenting this establishment?

I do recall a post by someone on the WOTC boards that stated they converted the Rod of Seven Parts module to fit in FR and used the "Rage of Dragons" or "Flight of Dragons" that happened every once in a while to be based on the dragons converging on the location of the Rod and destroying all in their wake. Perhaps you can use the Orbs of Dragonkind to explain the Flight of Dragons, as well. Someone was controlling them to go bezerk. Or perhaps it is a by-product of the use of the Orbs?

Sounds like something else that could be connected to the Year of Rogue Dragons.

I'm not one for converting the stats to 3E, but they might already be converted. Wasn't Dragonlance sold to a Third Party company? I believe that that would be the best source to converting it to 3E. I'm sure there are also numereous Dragonlace fan message boards where someone has already converted the stats for you. That would be the best place to check for 3.5E of the magic items themselves.

As for where to place it, they could be anywhere.
