Ringen is a medieval martial art practiced in Germany. It's one of the advanced martial arts, and it will have been practiced by Warrior Monks in FR (if one is using RMSS). The Martial Art is rebuilt in game terms using the Martial Arts Companion for RMSS, a book that is only available second hand. Although the book has one martial art of European Origin (actually it has three), Savate, this scroll will attempt to codify Ringen for use in your Rolemaster Forgotten Realms game. Using the rules stated here, other scribes may convert RM Ringen rules to their favored game systems.

Advanced Martial Arts Style [40 Style Points]
Description -- In the real world, Ringen is German for Grappling. In the Realms, Ringen is taught to martial artists in the Sword Coast, Western Heartlands, Chondath, Cormyr, some of the Dalelands, and in Amn. It is basically wrestling, with techniques similar to Real World Pankration, Jujutsu, and Judo. It originated in Chondath, and was quickly spread to other parts of the Realms during the time of the Chondathian Empire.

It is taught formally, and is usually taught to beginner swordsmen as well as Warrior Monks. The style relies on sweeps and throws (see Arms Law) as well as locking holds (see the Martial Arts Companion). An advanced practitioner of this art can grapple a horseman off his horse.
Recommended Skills -- Martial Arts Sweeping, Martial Arts Locking Holds, Feinting, Disarm (unarmed), Adrenal Defense
Martial Arts Abilities [Core] -- Greater Adrenal Defense [20 points], Degree 3 Locking holds, Degree 2 sweeps and throws [5 points], +5 OB to Disarm [5 points], All Around Attack [10 Points]
