As part of my High Forest project I wanted to do a bit of work around Secomber. What is the best source out there on information about the city?

Posted - 30 Dec 2016 : 06:53:13 Finally got it to work on my mobile phone. Not sure why Firefox on my laptop isn't working. Thanks for that! I've actually seen this map but wasn't sure it was Secomber. I think I may recreate this using Campaign Cartographer 3. |

As KanzenAU has noted, the full address has to be copied and pasted. The software engine of the forum grabs any text that starts with an url address and tries to make a hyperlink regardless of whether or not it works. If there are two url starts in the same line the engine treats them like separate addresses even if they are supposed to be the one, which is why clicking on the provided links fails. Even using the "url" & "code" forum codes of the forum cannot overcome this hurdle and results in a broken command. You have to copy all the text between the arrows in a single line ignoring how the forum insists that they are two separate addresses. >>> http://web.archive.org/web/20160214052714/http://bluez.home.xs4all.nl/role%20playing%20games/secomber%20town%201a.jpg <<<
Were the other links of any use to you? |

Posted - 29 Dec 2016 : 16:06:52 Yay! A new map I don't have!
EDIT: Talk about serendipitous - I am currently (pulling my hair out and) looking for a reference to a settlement in Sembia I read in the past two days (GAH! My failing memory!), which means re-reading EVERYTHING I've combed-through in the past several days, which includes Dragon Magazine #269 (for Hin lore). I just came across this...
"...but they do dominate at least two shared-with-humans settlements: Secomber (in the Sword Coast North), and Ethdale (north of Telflamm at the eastern end of the Sea of Falling Stars."
Thats in regards to halflings. Its also the old capitol (Hastarl) of Athalantar, the place where Elminster was born (although nothing - as far as we know - remains of the original settlement).
EDIT2: Not that this has anything to do with the topic, but as an aside to my comment above - I just found the town, in the article in that issue... Skultan. It was already on 'the maps'. Damn you Sembia! Why won't you grow more settlements for me! |

It has some info about the town, some details about a handful of NPCs and general info about it's inns and taverns. It doesn't have much more. As far as I know there hasn't been an official map ever. In "The Savage Frontier" there is also an small entry about Secomber but I think it is even smaller |
