I've been thinking on getting Hall of Heroes (the 2e supplement with all the famous personalities of the realms). I want to use Alias and Dragonbait for an appearance. Drizzt do'Urden will show up later.

I'd like to know if Hall of Heroes is a good supplement to buy or not?

Fantastic supplement. Definitely worth getting.

...In part from a planned novel series that was cancelled before they even announced it... Which draws vacuum, because given the amount of detail on the characters, it seems like the stories were fully written and would have been good reads.

Hall of Heroes is the 1e supplement on novel characters. The Heroes' and Villains' Lorebooks are the expanded and updated supplements on the same topic for 2e. They're pretty good in general.

I liked it, back in the day.

There is actually a little Kara-Tur lore in there that you can't find anywhere else.
