Posted - 16 Nov 2016 : 21:39:00 Going over the options for a band of robbers coming out of the Chondalwood to attack the player characters' caravan, I know I have some options:
* Wood elves
* Satyrs (I think these are potentially offensive given the Satyrs' Satyriasis.)
* Wood elves again, only the robbers are Wood Elf amazons.
* Something unexpected.
According to all sources (Vilhon Reach and Ed's article), the Chondalwood isn't a great place and has been steadily growing. It's inhabited by elves, satyrs, giants, ghosts, wolves, and other nasties. Since the woods of the Chondalwood are expanding, I gave it a twist, and built off the haunted part to give the forest a foreboding nature (kinda like Duskwood in World of Warcraft).
As for it's growth, Man hasn't been able to hold back the forest as it takes over villages and hamlets (according to the 2e source). So, I could use some help.
I'm leaning on the Wood Elves are Amazon encounter or an encounter with man eating wolves. What do you guys think? |

If the forest is 'moving', you may consider treants. Very ornery treants (lyrannikin). Considering the age/type of forest, maybe even one of those elder treant thingies.
Great. I'll think about it for when they are eighth level. Thank you, MT. |
