Hey, sages!

Your favorite dwarven scribe is back! ;)

I need a little help here. I will start a new campaign in the North, and I want to find the book (or Ed text) that give a little detail in the orc tribes. I need specially of a tribe that was powerful and feared in the past, but have lost prestige and power.

Circa 1372 DR

The 3E FRCS also has a sidebar on Orc tribes and Orc leaders which I've mined a time or two.

There are lots of named orc tribes through the Silver Marches sourcebook, too. I don't know how I forgot about that one.

There's an article in Dragon 429 discussing half-orcs, and it covers three tribes of orcs/half-orcs. It's a DDI "magazine" not an actual print one.

The Orc King discusses the state of affairs with the various orc tribes within Obould's early Kingdom of Many-Arrows in the year 1372 DR. Clan Karuck is the most notable, but there are several other pure-orc clans/tribes in there, too.

"The Hunter's Blades Trilogy" tells of the rise of Obould's army and kingdom, along with the summoning of thousands of orcs from their holes to join his campaign. Any of these various tribes would might make good candidates, as well as having the canonical benefit of never having been described as having been decimated as with Clan Karuck. You could have your cake and eat it too!

Clan Karuck to me would be a candidate. They were a powerful clan of orgrillon's who attempted a coup against King Obould. They were destroyed or nearly so, and sent packing into the Underdark. The tribe has many great characters, and could fill your needs.
