My player has a Spike Chain with the "Called" property. During an encounter with a druid the weapon (and the player) were Entangled during a Roll of "1". She left the weapon behind and escaped. When she summoned the weapon, should it still be entangled? What if it was picked up? Does the spell yoink it from the wielder? A Grapple check (Vs. What? to Keep ahold of a called weapon) the magic fails? I recall Wulfgar's Hammer can be summoned but nothing offical as to whether the magic or the person overrules the other. Any ideas? Anyone had this happen on them?

Agreed with The Arcanamach on all counts, for whatever my support is worth.

Since its essentially a teleport effect I would rule no entanglement. In order to stop the effect you would have to circumvent the teleport itself (via dimensional lock or dead magic for instance). If it were a 'returning' weapon I would say its entangled and and require a grapple check if you really want a rule on it (I generally consider the situation and determine the outcome myself without resorting to a hard rule, I like to keep things flexible in my campaign).

If it's actually held by someone else then I would consider whether the person is aware of the item's power and whether or not they can assert 'ownership' of the item now that the character is not in direct possession of it. In the case of aegis-fang though, that item is specifically attuned to Wulfgar so no one else can gain 'ownership' IMO. Hope this helps.
