I haven't begun this yet, but it is an idea that has been floating around my head for some time. In fact, it was originally inspired by a Candlekeep Adventure I had planned to design for play at Gen Con (not commercially, just for fun). As I was heavily invested in research (like any good Scribe should be), I found some very interesting bits of lore that could be tied up nicely without too much of a stretch.

Premise: With all of the crazy, world-shattering events that had taken place over thousands of year, there was a common thread that binds them all. In terms of Realmspace, time is not necessarily linear--at least not to the antagonists that have been causing these calamities. But first:

NDA Disclaimer: There are some things that I'm trying to sell WotC on, so I won't go into specifics. I can't imagine it's something they would even touch, but if there is a chance, I don't want to squash it here

In essence, it would be a plot so large that it helps to make sense of the chaos we have see both in the setting, and in real life (edition changes, retcons, and more). My players will be the main agents of an event that gives them a chance to bring back order and structure to the Realms. They may have a chance to right many wrongs, and un do what has been done. Or, maybe they choose a different path, and help old nurturers of Faerun regain power, and sieze the initiative. Honestly, I can see my players having a couple viable paths to success--which makes me even more excited.

The hint I will leave with you is a simple location. Don't read into it the wrong way. What might appear obvious at first, may not be true. Dig deep and you might find the truth. It will take the entirety of your library of Realms novels and sourcebooks to discern. My campaign will start with a bleak narration of a dream, one depicting an unfamiliar and foreign landscape.

It all begins with The Supreme Throne.

Yeah, it's my take. I'll likely draft something up. If we have a CK meet-up at Gen Con, I might pass it out there.

Ah, I see where you are going, I think.

The 'just one more battle in an endless war' approach - nice.

It is a very fitting way to smooth the edges of editions better as well (which is clever, if thats where you are trying to take this).

Oooh, this sounds very intriguing.

I'll spell it all out at some point. There are some really great opportunities there regarding the Time of Troubles, and the more recent Spellplague. A big wink to Mark as well. There are definitely some tie-ins that can be used. Though, the actual chronomancer is a different topic all together.... Or is it? Time will tell.

I once thought there was a connection between the Slaad and the Shadvari (the originals form the WoL&D, not the Shades). It probably had to do with that poor write-up of one that was somewhere (I can't recall the source anymore, but its definitely one that doesn't get much attention, IIRC).

Will your PCs be joining the Council of Cross-Time Kangs?

I also like the use of the Chronomancer, if thats your intent. The fact he died because he literally 'ran out of time' always struck me as odd and suspect.

Oh, I meant it.

The Supreme Throne makes very good sense for a lot of things...especially the "True" Chaos represented there. Some of the most sinister (and under-used in my thoughts) beings are FROM the Supreme Throne! The Slaadi are one such I absolutely LOVE.

Godspeed Matt...I hope you enjoy the journey; I just hope we get to follow you in every step someday!

I can tie up several big deals into one greater story arch there. Trust me though, it gets more interesting than that . I need to start writing it first though. I have a nice outline though.
