I have largely placed my campaign in Golarion after the Inner Sea World Guide was released, so I have not developed the realms to the level tha I should have. I should probably start doing so again.

Has anyone used the APG in the Forgotten Realms? What are your experiences with them? They work great in Golarion but how so they mesh with FR flavor?

I know Cavalier, and Witch would have no issues melding, but I wonder about some of the others. I know well how they all play, I am more asking for experience with flavor.

Where have you used them?

Have you converted any old NPC's to them?

Have you developed any inquisitor ideas for the gods?

Exactly. The character is from Rashamen, and is thoroughly convinced that she should have been made a Hathran, but was decidedly rejected by her would-be sisters (the player wrote a great background). As a result, she has few issues dealing with traditional enemies of Rashamen, like Red Wizards and the like, such is the character's bitterness (though the player is having a blast).

Were she going to become an actual Hathran, I would adapt the Prestige Class to Pathfinder rules and go from there.

I'll have to look but I have a fear that when my computer crashed, I lost those files. But even so, I don't mind re-opening discussion to recreate them and do a great job of it.

I'm with you there. By sunday I am hoping to post somewhere on this site my prestige class conversions, whether they be archtypes or rewritten prestige classes. I am also going to post how I changed Circle magic. So I won't have anything for the orders this weekend but I am really working on converting FRCS 3rd into Pathfinder in preparation for D&D 5e.

If your interested I will try to have my stuff on this site by Sunday night.

I edited it to be less inflammatory. You're quite right Diffan, it didn't need to be stated as such, apologies to all.

I appreciate the sentiment, thanks.

As for the APG, I really wanted to "Realmsify" the different Cavalier orders presented. Changing the flavor and name to be more inline with companies and creatues specifically for the Realms. Changing things like Order of The Purple Dragon (Cormyr affiliated), Order of the Selūn's Star (affiliated with her church), Order of the Tyrrinical Sword (possibly followers of Bane). That sort of thing. OR creating Orders that are brand new with Realms ties. That'd be a fun community project.

Diffan - let me know when you do that. I have one Cavalier in my game. I explained the orders away as a philosophies that exist in various groups. He's a cavalier subset of the Flaming Fists, actually.

I use the summoner synthesist (parts of it). It's a hybrid world, the pc is from Numeria, and Numeria is a post-Imaskar realm.

My friend plays the oracle, but his gods include Erastil and the Eldest.

Other players use Ultimate Magic and Ultimate Combat.

As a quick note, my group and campaign ignore 4E and 4E Realms (we detest 4E). This game was set in 1384 DR - 1386 DR (my own advancement of the time line, with none of that 4E drivel to taint it).

Was this truely necessary??

I've found most of them to be excellent additions to the Realms. My campaign moved exclusively over to Golarion (we all agreed to start up a new one using only Pathfinder RPG materials for the change), but we did play in the Realms for a while with the APG (we switched over just before Ultimate Magic came out).

As a quick note, my group and campaign ignore 4E and 4E Realms. This game was set in 1384 DR - 1386 DR.

Alchemist: This one I didn't allow, as I felt existing arcane spellcasters with a particular fondness for potion making and alchemy filled the role nicely (plus it felt too much like hand grenades...my group didn't argue, as none of them found it particularly interesting in any case).

Cavalier: Not a problem at all with this one, it feels very much at home in the Realms (one of my players retooled an old 3.5E PHB2 Knight into a cavalier and enjoyed the character even more than before). I also added a small group of Cavaliers (Order of the Dragon) to the Purple Dragon Knights. They are loyal to Cormyr, but their primary loyalties lay with their brothers and sisters of the Purple Dragons (which has some of the more paranoid Cormyrian nobility worried that they are working towards a possible coup).

Inquisitor: Another class very much at home in the Realms. I created a small organization of them dedicated to Hoar and they felt like they had always been there (though I got the sense that they would be best kept to low numbers and only really suited to neutral deities, with a few exceptions). My group all agreed on one thing with Inquisitors though, basically "Thou shalt not re-create Van Helsing".

Oracle: No one played one then (and still not), but I made them exclusively members of Savras' clergy (in Faerun at least). They don't seem out of place.

Summoner: We all agreed we're playing D&D, not Final Fantasy. The existing summoning magicks felt more than sufficient to us, so this was disallowed (and we still feel that way in Golarion).

Witch: Rashemen. Hags. This class works just peachy in the Realms.

Ah, thankee. I thought it might have meant "Adventure Path: Golarion" or something.

I have several Pathfinder adventures and a few other rulebooks, but haven't utilized them (yet) in my Realms campaign.

I'm curious to see what others have done with Pathfinder material for the Realms.

I ran Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave with a hybrid of Complete series and Pathfinder characters with no problem at all. I do not remember if anyone chose to play a class from the APG or not. It may have been before the APG was released.
Dark Wizard Posted - 02 Feb 2012 : 21:38:22
I haven't used Pathfinder in the Realms, but due to the mostly generic fantasy nature of their game material, I feel virtually everything fits easily into the Realms, probably even easier than accepting Sorcerers into the setting from the 2e to 3e transition.

Advanced Player's Guide.

So far, only one player has used an APG class, the Witch. And it seems to fit right in. She (the character) does not fully know who her supernatural patron is, however (partly because I, the DM, have yet to decide who). But I find it works quite well.

Edit: The character is a 'failed Rashamen witch', basically someone who was prohibited from becoming a Hathran. It's much less of an issue being that she is currently tromping through Neverwinter Wood, but the rejection still stands out in the character's mind (the player is an awesome roleplayer).

What does "APG" mean?
