its my turn dm for the next 2 years so... i need some suggestion from thee wize scribes of the keep of candles... here it goes: Im going to dm party of 5 characters starting at 1st lvl with intemtion to finish after 2 years at 20+lvl. well my realms have no shade invasion and all that,we play 3.5 time 1372.
my ideas so far: ihave changed a bit NEwfort and basicaly i plane to make it the base of operations of the party. i thinking to start small with goblins etc. incorporating the 12 tower story from dungeon (hevyly modufied)early on. tghen propably an orc attack at newfort, which guides to changes in the leadership of town enter bad recuring mage.i wont to make them help build the town them make them realise the their efforts were for the uprise of an evil dynasty.then make them take over the leadership of the town as they advance in lvls. use the training ground and mud sorcerers stories from dungeon with telkun;s tower. and weave it all together with new fort making the town been build on top of an outpost of netheril which is connected with all the towers actually making the mud sorcerer and telkun's toer the 12th &11th towers... i don't know if it makes any sense... it s the first time i'm going to dn for a big campaign, any thoughts suggestion would be appreciated.
P.S sorry for the language imnot a native speaker..

In regards to getting the group together:

I've always liked Caravans... They might be a bit overused but it can often work quite well at bringing players together.

Any Fighters or Rangers in the group could be guards, or scouts, hired by the caravanmaster.

A Magic user could be travelling as a passenger or spellhurler for hire.

A Rogue might have had to leave their previous home due to their illegal activities and signed up as a guard.

A Cleric or Priest might be travelling to Newfort to bring the words of their chosen Deity.

Throw some raiding Goblinoids at the Caravan and see if they start working together...

If you could let us know their goals and classes, when they've been created that would be great

well thanks...
the 12 tower are actually 12 different towers all over faerun connected by portals...

Have you run a campaign for Forgotten Realms before and are the players new to the Realms?
yes and no

What sort of group do you have, do you know what types of classes they will be choosing? Are they the sort that just crave combat or are they heavily into roleplay?

nop i dont know yet we will be rolling tomorrow more info then...
As for the player type we generaly fall between the two styles mentioned.

Are the characters native to the Silver Marches or have they travelled there from far away lands?
more info tommorow

What has brought the party to Newfort, are they a typical band of adventurers?
im thinking each of them having found a typival tresure map with the X near newfort(need help about it)

Will you be keeping the towns NPC's as they are described in the sourcebook, what sort of modifications will you be making?

yes im keeping them as they are until propably an orc attack happens at newfort, which guides to changes in the leadership of town enter bad recuring mage and his apprentices.
actually my Newfort is the same only bigger about 450 population.

does anyone have any ideas about silver marches handout for 1372 dr?

Actualy thnx for the questions they make think thinks i havent...

Hiya Ari

I would like to help if I am able?

I love the idea of a campaign around the Newfort area, the Silver Marches will allow alot of campaign opportunities that will scale with your players as they increase in levels.

I haven't read the 12 Towers module from Dungeon so I don't know what the adventure itself will entail.

I really like the Telkoun's Tower adventure, i've read it more than a few times and think it would be an excellent challenge for the group once they've gained some experience.

I have a few questions though...

Sorry to ask so many questions! I've offered to help people in the past and it's not always been well received

I'm more than happy to help, in any way I can, but I just wanted some more info.
