what do you guys think of running two campaigns at once one in the present and one in the past with the same chars at different levels, i have a group of epic leveled chars that im running and ive asked my players to make their chars 5th level then when the reach tenth level the will realize that they are just sitting around a table remebering the old days what do you think?

It's an idea similar to something I have ran with before. In fact I ran my entire 'Ancient Age - Netheril' campaign in this similar-format method. I had a group of level 25+ PC's (remember please, that this was 2e) that were also asked to play those same PC's in an earlier period - namely the Netheril period - but reduced in class level. It worked very well. However there were some problems when it came to the differences of the magic systems in both eras, and the availability of different types of weapons and other material/technology, but it was nothing that my group could not overcome with common sense and good role-playing.

Consult the Netheril tome for more details on this method of game play.

I did considered the idea of running an adventure, where the first group play the much maligned hapless assasins who become the ancient vampire enemy in the the second group's campaign, with about 2000 years in between times.

Its just finding the time to do it without spreading myself too thin, maybe if anyone's interested we could get together and run it?

Sounds interesting. I would change one thing though the groups are thousands of years apart. The group in the future is affected by the actions of the ones in the past. Such as the past group blows up a castle and the future group was supposed to go. They go to the castle and all it is is rubble.
