Posted - 12 May 2011 : 17:32:34 Thought I might share this with you. I made an excel 2007 spreadsheet that randomly generates spells memorised for wizards, clerics, druids and spells known for sorcerers d&d 3.5. It includes the spells from Spell Compendium (which includes the spells from MoF and other realms books but be aware of the name changes for some of them) but you can turn them off if you do not own that book or just want to use core spells.
I use it for when characters meet some random spell caster and I need to know what spells they ahve that day or if I need a quick enemy/friend.
There are a couple of glitches I cant iron out; It does not take into account spontaneous casting so cures and causes are still included (I may add caster alignment or something later so it will work out what protection from' spell or cures and causes to memorise) sometimes sorcerer spells known are duplicated and for some reason I cant get it to not list spells for casters that have high enough level but not high enough statistic (e.g. if you select a 20th level cleric with 17 wisdom, the sheet will still generate 8th and 9th level spells!) I'm still working on it and eventually am going to include more domains and meta magic spells.

Posted - 03 May 2012 : 21:25:59 It may be a little bit off-topic, but for DMs and authors who are looking to come up with their own names for things in an enriched fantasy environment, we came up with this random fantasy religion / spell name generator (http://athames.com/random-fantasy-name-generator) for anyone who wants to use it. It's free, fun, easy, and doesn't require registration or anything like that.
Thanks for the neat post and the upload. |
