Has anybody here attached a land that they have created to the Forgotten Realms? Feel free to post your ideas.

If you haven't, then let's turn this thread into a workshop and whip something up.

I'll post some of my ideas in a bit...when I have the time.

well i really didn't create this world but a DM i play with all the time did. he basically made a new city/dock and couple island. i believe the one island was called 'isle of droganne' which is just a human settlement area to trade, and a druid island called 'isle of invellios'. i am not totally positive what he called the city, i think it was called newfound port.

but the campaign is fun, we're still playing it.

zip is beautiful.
I zipped both documents and you (or anyone) can download them here:

http://users.bart.nl/~centrvak/Candlekeep/Slimlandshire.zip « disciption of the land
http://users.bart.nl/~centrvak/Candlekeep/Dawning.zip « (another) short (? ) story playing in that land

remember ... right mouse button, save as ...

So, said the hard part.

I'm very pleased with your reactions. And Ditalidas is right, this was meant to be a preamble towards a (tabletop?) play of ((a sidetrack of) the background of) my character Marc. A play that hasn't been played yet (for numerous reasons).
Marc is my PC in a PBeM-campaign and yes, he is in that story quite mature for his age in a way (in some ways he surely wasn't), but the harsh environment (as well as being grown fatherless) counts for that.

Yes, there's a kind of sequel to this. I've written a story about Marc (some 52 pages) in the same setting/surrounding. I think this sequel is better in many ways (more readable mostly*), although I'm convinced it is far from perfect. Written that story (novelle??) mostly becourse of the warm reaction to "an introduction to Slimlandshire" from someone, who said (quote) "made me curious to read more." and ... a challenging DM.

I'll find a way and place to upload it soon.

And yes, the 'artwork' is done by yours sincerely (apart from the pony, of which I only broadend the hooves)
*) that's possibly all, for there are no drawings or maps in that document.
.

The reason why the story is not complete is because it's followed by an encounter I should have played with Frey in a short table-top game. But due to personal health problems (on my side) we still haven't done that. Maybe we can still do that somewhere in the near future...

To be honest, I find it difficult to DM the finishing of a story that's not my own creation. I'm afraid Frey's visions on things are not fitted to combine with mine. But experience will tell... we'll just have to try it out.

I guess I just answered both your questions Blind Man. Frey is indeed the artist.
Sorry Frey for answering these questions for you, but figured I'm to blame that it's not finished

I just read it last night, and I must say, I was/am impressed. I felt like Marc was acting a little too mature for a 12 year old, but I guess given the surrounding area that one fights the fight just to reach adulthood. That, and it seems like you just cut off the ending.

Two questions, if you will.
1) Is there a follow-up to this story?
and...
2) Are you the artist behind the art?

Bravo!, regardless.

No, my ideas are not different from the book.
Although I started to develop this country without the book it worked out to fit in perfectly as soon as I got my hands on a copy of FRCS.

So it's more a deepening of a small part from a part of the Realms than it differs.

...a moot point, yes?

Thanks all the same.

Ok, my webmail didn't accept the documents (too big?? why?! ) so now it can be downloaded here:

(Rightclick and save as ...)

The webspace over there was too small to hold both the documents, ...

Sure it does...how are your ideas any different from those found in the book?

email: kingdreg@hotmail.com

I'm always interested in what others got to say on any given subject. How can I not be?

I'll swap my ideas if you want (as soon as I copy it to the computer).

I have, in fact.

Not a fully new country, just a part of 'The North', around (but mainly north of) the 'Far forest'. Just to form a fitting background for a PC.

Have little history (yet), but made some maps and disciptions of the landscape as well as democaphical and economical things, refers to FRCS and such.
I made a 3Mb Word document (don't be scared, the bytes are mainly 2 maps and 3 drawings, the text consist of a mere 15 pages, including these graphics.
If you state your e-mail-address I can mail the document to you; if more people are interested we have to work out some other arragement (like uploading somewhere?).

I have even more than that... My DM managed to provoke me into writing a extensive (!) backgroundstory on my (PBeM-)PC, so I've got a short (?) story playing in this land as well, which for instance discribes more of the way people interact. (some 60 pages)

But I've got no idea whether all this will forfill your wishes.
