Posted - 19 Mar 2011 : 09:22:38 DMG says like bonuses don't stack and deflection isn't listed as the exception yet I see numerous NPC files of people wearing a ring of protection +1 and a ring +3 and getting the bonuses from both, is this a case in point to the 2 ring file, or a type O? |

Posted - 19 Mar 2011 : 15:33:43 I'm sure deflection bonuses do not stack in 3.X. You cannot put on 2 rings of protection and gain the bonus from both (you gain the better one, of course). |

Posted - 19 Mar 2011 : 14:20:41 It has been a while since I played 3.0e, but I do recall that the rules on what did and didn't stack weren't as clearly defined in those books.
If we are talking about 3.5e, then this document explains clearly what bonuses do and don't stack.
Pathfinder has the same rule, but worded a little different.
For 4th edition, check out p.275 of the Player's Handbook. At the bottom of the page it explains which bonuses and penalties stack (typed bonuses don't, untyped bonuses and penalties do). |

Also: your DM might be "wrong", but nonetheless is the ultimate arbiter on how rules are interpreted when he runs the game. |
