I recall from my days as an adventurer some of the ridicullous decisions or campaigns my beloved DM would throw our way.

One such example was in a dragonlance campaign.
A couple of the players started fighting (in the game of course) so I had my 10th level bard throw a fireball above their heads to distract them,
In response to this "dangerous missuse of magic" the DM decided to reveal that the Party's wizard was in fact the god Paladin and proceeded to "punish' me by dealing me 999hps of damage, slaying me outright permanently. After all the players walked out he didn't dare do it again.

Anyone else have any far fetched stories or crazy Dm's?

dude a hower would so be the best weapon to use. a writhing ball of spikes...

as for a crazy Dm...i used to be one, there was this guy that played in my group probably a year ago and i could have sworn he was gay and i want to fond of him.plus he stole all the magic and the other players wanted him gone. so when time came to hand out the treasure of course he got the magic. i had had about enough of his crap so whne he identifyed the item it turned out to be .... a +2 short club of vibration.

ive changed my ways now though...

Create the topic, boy... It'll worth it.

I personnaly think that a Hafling, with their lightweight and air penetration ability, would make great ranged weapon...

For a melee weapon, what would be better than a dwarf ? Yeah, I know, they're heavy but... If you tell'em : " It's just because you fear it", you got a chance that they go angry !

P.S. Maybe a hafling would just enjoy the ride and... an angry dwarf is always a great weapon !!!

By the way layton. Shouldnt you be at the north pole right now?!?!?!?! O.0 *Points to your avatar*

Well I can say this. Adult sceens are done. In the real world there ARE people who dont mind people watching them do it. So basically. If the chars are doing so. Maybe thats just them inviting people to join in. Who knows. But IRL it happens so it very well can happen in game.
I would torture your char to. Just in a more sinister and vile way then anyone else could ever think of. Im very good at playing villains, but keep in mind villans do not have to torture etc... Just the ones with a point to get across in a hurry.

VERY NICE FIBURA!!!

Lolth slayer Posted - 09 Dec 2003 : 11:35:54
LOL Fibura! My choice would be a Rust Monster with fighter levels or maybe a rabid Dwarven Barbarian!

This DM was really stoooopid!!! DROW ELF WIELDING was a feat where a character with sufficient strength could use a live drow elf as a blunt weapon. The game was so stupid; I gracefully exited at the first break.
I nearly fell off my chair when I read that It's all very well taking the feat, but if you found yourself in dire need of a weapon how could you expect to be sure of finding a Drow to wield? Wait, my mistake, they're everywhere now aren't they?

I'm resisting the urge to start a "Which Race or Class would make the best weapon?" topic ... but only just

I have been lucky to have compitant DMs I guess. All the DMs I have seen seem to be sane and at least had a moderate understanding of the game. :)

I played in a game where the DM allowed a player to dive from a 3rd story building and headbutt a thief running away. The DM told him if you manage to roll a 00 you do it Guess what. The players were in stitches when the DM saw the roll.

Probably a feat that replaces Ambidexterity (as I assume this is 3e) and Two-Weapon Fighting, and gives no penalty for either hand. Sounds munchkiny.

Granted, I think that a -2 penalty for the primary weapon is unrealistic; Improved Two-Weapon Fighting should remove that. The penalty for the off-hand should stay, of course. But I don't know for certain which way is more realistic, so I never bothered.

I have to say I find the expression "Stupid DM" a contradiction in terms, surely there is no such animal.

"Kindly DM", "Generous DM", "Intelligent and all-knowing DM" I don't have a problem with but I've never heard of a stupid DM

Go to ANY state game convention and there is a plethora of Stoopid DM's. The last one I was in allowed a guy to bring in his Paladin that rode a.... KI-RIN as his mount!!!!!

This annoyed me, just because it is in the shape of a horse does not mean it is a mount. This Ki-Rin was far more intelligent than the rider, and had a much higher celstial purpose.

To simplify it, it would be like a squirrel with a sword coming up to a human and riding around on the human's shoulder (assuming we are a higher form than squirrel).

I have stopped playing in COnvention run games becasue too many DM's are STOOOOPID. (One which allowed the weapon feat: DROW ELF WIELDING)

I might have a lil story. It'S from the same DM as I have now, but he greatly changed ans is now a fair and good DM.

Basically, We started in a dungeon, and freed a priest (which was suposed to be a weak lvl 2 priest there to help the party with healing) and later in the dungeon, we entered a room with 2 or 3 powerfull monsters, and since he was tired, he used the priest and said he summoned a huge "dancing" warhammer and whiped the whole room with it (monsters). Finally, after some abuses of a "card deck of wonder" (sorry, dunno the eact name) (ignoring(no one knew) the line that say the card is removed from the deck after being pulled) and using a "custom" one, we ended up level 150+ (bout) and all became "demigods". after some allignement changes, we ended up trying to kill the "lil priest" who was really a paladin, and after hitting him with an arrow of paladin slaying, he morphed in a huge golden wyrm. He was "actually" the "king" of all golden wyrms and and almost killed us all, but the clerk of tyr(in the group, who ended evil and chosen of tyr o.O) called upon his god to save us all... End of the Story

Woohoo!! this is my forst post

You obviously haven't played with the same DMs I have Kahonen,
Although I do agree most sane Dms are kind hearted and intelligent, much like my good self!

don't mean that Zemd is stupid, although...
SanguineDefect Posted - 03 Nov 2003 : 15:58:05
My Dm is rather...good...relatively...except he allows some very "R" rated things, like activities that shouldn't be done in public being done in public, involving two drunk men and a halfing, with one female psychic warrior.

Also he likes to torture my fellow drow ranger by interpreting his rolls rather negatively...like he rolled a ten on climb, and went up the tree, and halfway up he fell down and nearly died.

What was the metal in this firebomb -- plutonium?
Lolth slayer Posted - 31 Oct 2003 : 15:55:54
Thats too bad Cult leader, never stand in the way of a self-righteous DM you know it leads to a humiliating painful death!
Cult_Leader Posted - 31 Oct 2003 : 14:05:32
Well yes I do actually. There was a very very good game I was playing in. Took 3 years. And at the 4th year of playing this game we were JUST now getting to 6-7th level. One or two people were 9th level. Now. The next big battle we had to do was fight a massive white dragon. As in the acient kind. Now, Before this we foght a massive battle in the middle of a city, where I actually got to become Pelors avatar for a short time. I was playing a cleric, damn good prare roll (sp?). Anyway, as so happens. I was smashig things. Basically I was unavatard, got a month to rest up. Then we went out to fight this horrific dragon. Upon which we were given MANY diffrent strong magical gears and such. Skipping ahead I was leading the dragon and the army it commanded away from the city by casting light on myself and floating away fromt he city. This "some how was leader the dragon "to" the city" and therefore the dragon got to knock me out of the sky, and squish me to death without even trying. Yeah. Fun huh? When your 6th level cleric who has taken on multiple foes and kept them alive, gets killed out right by a acient frost wyrm. I keep in mind it probably could have done this. But I had some things that would have kept me from being killed out right, and I didn't even get to do any of them. One was a happy happy fire bomb, set up to drop a metal into a chemical that would make it blow up, a rather BIG blowing up at that.
Anyway, I just quit playing in that game, I kind of understood why the DM of this certain game did this, Because he wanted the dragon to smash the hell of of said city, and I was keeping him from doing so. I could tell this by how over joyed he was when the rest of the party sat back in dragon feared awe as it smashed the city and killed thousands. Fun huh?
