Posted - 09 Aug 2010 : 19:01:19 Hello, everyone. I hate to show up after such a long time with a request, but I was hoping my fellow scribes who have stayed in the D&D loop would be better versed on this subject than myself.
My GF is making a ranger character and want to use a Mastiff like dog as an animal companion. Now, I remember reading the stats for something similar long ago. I forget what it was called. Attack dog, maybe?
Can anyone think of something similar (and the books found in) for me? I would be very appreciative. |

In 1st, base animal was 2HD+2 about twice a wild dog. The AC one level better then wild dog, movement was 12" instead of 15" for wild dog. I infer that the trained war dog speed reduced because of waiting for commands and/or carrying some protective items.
Not sure what edition you are using, however a war dog is much like a war horse, the base stats higher as far as combat, tends to be lower movement because of commands. |
