So im back with new stuff for you all to comment and evaluate!
Thanks
EPIC SPELLFIRE WIELDER [EPIC] Your ability to absorb spellfire energy is greater than normal. Prerequisites: Concentration 30 ranks, Spellcraft 30 ranks, Spellfire Wielder. Benefit: You no longer have to ready an action to absorb spells. Normal: Without this feat, a spellfire wielder would have to ready an action to absorb spells.
Any comment is valued! |

Posted - 03 Aug 2010 : 17:11:22 Well its not like I wanna kill gods, its a bit too over the edge!!
My point was just to say that my char wants to become so powerful that he could defend her agains what ever threat that might come her way. May it be Shar or Cyric or some other evil thread!
He's kind of obsesed about Mystra, but in a good way. So he feels that he needs to become insanly powerful, so better to serve! |

You can't take down Shar! That is MY job!
All kidding aside, have fun...that is what it is all about.
Just don't get mad when a Wizard casts a 7th level spell, say Limited Wish, and the hillside you are standing at collapses on you and then he walks over with a dagger for the kill.
Seriously, every game should just be about the fun...if you wanna kill gods...kill them all! Don't just stop at one! |

Posted - 01 Aug 2010 : 22:27:41 Well dont get me started on the whole... Is it fun to be invinsible discusion... Because since level 1 that is exactly what I have been trying to achieve! I know that it is still going to take 15 lvls, but come level 40 I am going to be very close to omnipotence!
No longer will I have to fear any mortal spellcaster and only a handfull of rogue assasins are going to have a chance.
At level 40 my powers will rival that of the gods!
Delusions aside... Since my plans has always been to take out Shar, and/or Cyric, my end goal with my character have always been to become the most powerful spellcaster on the face of Toril. And as long as Simbul, Elminster, Larloch and The Srinshee is around... well thats not an easy task.
So fellow scribes I strive always to become more powerful!
PS. Make no mistake, when I play, its still all about having fun and good role playing!!! |

Think of it this way... If any spell tageted at me gets through me defences, or I fail my counterpell action, I simply choose to absorb it. This feat practicly makes me immune to any spell tageted at me!!!!
As I see it; it is a powerful feat indeed!
So where's the fun in being invulnerable?
Besides, as Dalor Darden pointed out, you can kill someone with magic without directly hitting them. Creativity can carry the day where brute strength fails... |

Posted - 01 Aug 2010 : 04:42:51 Well, there are tons of ways to kill someone without your magic touching them.
Summoning Demons, shattering the ground the spellfire wielder is on, dropping a summoned wall on them, turning rock to mud, and on and on and on...
I was never greatly fearful of someone with spellfire. |

Anyway at this point, battle makes no sense, there are nigh infinite ways to be untouchable/unstoppable for any caster. I wouldn't put effort to make an epic character 'stronger', he's probably already godlike.
If my PCs reach epic levels (and they usually do), it is only because I've still got stuff to tell in the story. I cut fights to a minimum, and it is always story-related (i.e. killing the villain who has been following them for x years). |

Posted - 29 Jul 2010 : 19:45:02 Definitly not broken, and I'd say a little underpowered for the level you can obtain this feat. You have to be at least level 27 and I'm sure by then there are more worthly feats for a high epic character. You could add in that they can absorb more magic and/or increase the die to d8's or d10's as well IMO. |

Posted - 29 Jul 2010 : 19:23:28 Doesn't seem overpowered to me (certainly not for an epic feat), though I have no experience with running a character with Spellfire. It never looked that good to me, and is not worth having the Zhentarim/Red Wizards/Cult of the dragon on your back for the rest of your life. |

Posted - 29 Jul 2010 : 19:17:40 Well had a long discusion with my DM and he read in MoF that one "become" like a rod of absorbation, when(and only when) one ready an action. So he stated that the ability had not changed from 3.0 to 3.5...
To the other comment... yes! That is excactly how it works! |

Posted - 29 Jul 2010 : 02:31:27 Actually, this is how it should be run now, as the rod of absorption itself no longer needs a readied action.
Just my two coppers. |

Posted - 29 Jul 2010 : 00:32:33 So? At this point, he'll be able to asorb only a few spells before he hits his con limit.
At which point he'll do a spell that MIGHT do a whole grand total of 20D6, or heal him.
It looks broken on paper. In play, not so much. |

Posted - 28 Jul 2010 : 23:11:44 I don't have access to the Player's Guide to Faerūn, so I don't know if this is supposed to be a variation of feat of the same name in that book. |
