Ok Druids in animal form, do you other DMs allow them to communicate with the animal they have shapechanged into or still require the Speak with Animal spell?
Are they automatically accepted as another animal or do "Natural" animals sense that they are somehow different? I was figuring a Dipolmacy check (or Wild empathy) to be "accepted" into the pack but...ideas?

Thanks for the ideas. I agree that Animal Companions would recognize you in all forms and thus not flee, but in the case of your Raging-animal I'd have to say that when you changed back they'd have to give you an ear-full. "WTH MAN! EVERYTIME YOU GO ALL WOLFY YOU TRY TO EAT ME! DUDE! KNOCK IT OFF OR GET A RING OF FIREBALLS SO I CAN SLAP YOU AROUND A LITTLE!" Or something similar, lol...oddly, that sounded like a game we played a few weeks ago when the druid changed into a Cheetah then sprinted away from the Hag leaving the others behind. Lea sacrificed herself for the other but afterwords everyone was shocked that 1- she could move so fast and 2- that she'd bail on them. (In Shadowfox's defense she had planned on Wildshaping back and pelting the Hag with some spells).

Sorry, I was responding to the first half, not the Barbarian/Druid part. =)

Yeah, but your raging in animal form... would your animal friends try to help you, or be like a normal /friend/ and be like, man, you keep trying to eat me. I don't want to be your pal anymore, bye bye.

Animal companions are not really normal animals anymore, and would probably recognize you in any form. Charm would also over-ride normal reactions and make the animal "friendly."

Huh...

So animal companions, or even animals with charm, say you do a deer.

Then you turn into a tiger. Would your deer friend run from you?

WOW:

I just came up with a new idea for a character. It be with a flaw. A big flaw but nonetheless...

A barbarian/Druid.

When he rages as an animal, maybe he can't tell his animal friends from prey, and tries to eat them if their are no enemies left.

"A druid loses her ability to speak while in animal form because she is limited to the sounds that a normal, untrained animal can make, but she can communicate normally with other animals of the same general grouping as her new form. (The normal sound a wild parrot makes is a squawk, so changing to this form does not permit speech.) "

As far as reactions, I'd say indifferent from most other animals, unless they have a predator vs prey thing going on, then unfriendly or even hostile.
