Posted - 06 Sep 2003 : 16:28:59 If in some adventure two carachters mages fight, one uses mirror image, he creates five images, and the use magic missile against the first, the magic missile destroy one image, the missile find the enemy, the magic missile destroy all images, or the magic missile destroy all images and find the enemy? Remenber, magic missiles ever find the enemy, and the mage need to look one anemy to atack with his magic missile. |

Posted - 07 Sep 2003 : 05:13:15 Magic Missile will hit anything that it is directed against. If that something is an inanimate object (like an illusion) then the spell would have no effect except to destroy that particular image only. Remember, the description for the spell states "the caster must be able to identify the target. He cannot direct a magic missile to “Strike the commander of the legion,” unless he can single out the commander from the rest of the soldiers." The spell doesn't "find" it's targets. It unerringly hits anything it is directed against. Now if the wizard was of a level that he could conjure 5 or more missiles, he could then direct each one to hit an individual image and destroy each one and damage the real wizard too. |
