Posted - 19 Sep 2009 : 23:32:05 So I have decided to take up the massive undertaking of running a campaign based during the Weeping War. The pcs will start as low level members of Myth Drannor's soldiers with the chance to rise to high ranks and power.
I was wondering if anyone has ever run something like this and if they have any advice or ideas that would help. This game will be 3.5.
Thanks for any help given |

While it is true that they later recover Myth Drannor, I can't agree that it wasn't a losing war. Their objective was to protect their city and not lose their home, and they failed in that objective. The Reclamation was a separate war.
I think the best way to keep PCs motivated would be to have them -- and their actions -- be part of the groundwork for the later Reclamation. Maybe it's the kids of the PCs that do the Reclamation, maybe it's older versions of the PCs, maybe they hide something in the city before it falls, and later elves use it against the fey'ri, maybe even they're modern elves transported back in time to keep some key NPC alive so that a specific battle can be won... |

Posted - 20 Sep 2009 : 12:27:03 Thanks guys the first thing I did was download the the two mentioned supplements. Now I have to do the overly fun task of converting all of it to 3.5. Also on how to keep the optimism up for the players as this is a losing war. |

Posted - 20 Sep 2009 : 05:28:59 Read everything you can about elves of Myth Drannor. |

Posted - 20 Sep 2009 : 03:55:38 There's some notes about the Fall in Sea of Fallen Stars, mainly dealing with some of the elven refugee families and what they end up doing once they flee to Seros.
But yes, if you don't have Fall of Myth Drannor and Comanthyr, get them. They are absolutely indispensible for anyone wanting to run a campaign like yours. |

Finally, look for the Elven Notebook websight for all sorts of elven goodies. PM me if you want a copy of Althen Artren's Guide to Myth Drannor. |

Posted - 19 Sep 2009 : 23:50:51 there was a campaignin 2e based on that war, written by Steven Shend. It was "the fall of Myth Drannor". I think you can download it for free from wizards web site. |
