I was thinking of ways to send a 3.x game from Faerūn to Sahu in Zakhara. I've come up with some possible ways from looking at a few maps.

1st- It's seems going by land would send the party into the Utter East and they'd run into some mountains.

2nd- For sailing I was thinking of just a quick voyage across the Great Sea and then by land aross the Haunted Lands and the Great Anvil.

3rd- Sailing the long way around Zakhara's west coast to Sahu with stops along the way. The makings of pirate/aqua adventures.

4th- The Underdark? I haven't heard if Al-Qadim has it but I don't see why not. It would be a chance to give new players a taste of some drow.

5th- Flying. They'll have to land every now and again. I can see a few ways of giving them some turbulence. No Spelljammers(sorry Wooly ).

Any of those appear to be no simple task and great adventures in themselves. I'm trying not to use a direct portal to Sahu. A couple that might shorten the distance wouldn't be a problem but not necessary. I already have the Complete Book of Nercomancers for when the PCs arrive at Sahu. What are some of the other sources(2E books and Dragon/Dungeon issues etc.) should I look to for info on such an odyssey?

Strangely enough, I'm in the middle of converting the NPCs presented in the Complete Necromancer's Handbook to 3.5e. I've got the doctor and her priestess companion statted as well as group affiliations (PHB2) for the Anatomical Academy and the Church of Loviatar. I'm about to start with two versions of Kazerabet. The 16th-level version found in Cities of Bone and the 20th-level found in the Necromancer's Handbook.

You could sail out of Dambrath to Akota - I'm sure the Drow of Zakhara have dealings with those right across the water in Faerūn.

You don't need the Underdark in Zakhara... everything is on the surface, under the glaring sun - it's part of the setting's flavor.

Anyhow, Sailing is the way to go, and the Pirate Isles of Zakahara are not all that far south of Faerūn's southern coast. I would recommend both Corsairs of the Great Sea and Golden Voyages if you do.

You can download Corsairs for FREE from WotC - just scroll down, it's under 'Al-Qadim'.

In fact, I'd recommend you download all of those freebies before they are taken down.

IIRC, Sahu is the Island of the Necromancer Kings which is featured in the Complete Book of Necromancers product, which includes a plethora of FR lore, including a rather weird fight between Loviatar and Cyric.

I have no clue where or what Sahu is (honestly ),but if i was to choose from the 5 options i would be choosing the 3rd. After all it is summer and adventures at the sea are popular, extra points if a bottle of rum is present at the table
