When they strike metal, each one nearby vibrates. I placed two inside Ren's daggers (in my continuity, Shal, Tarl, and Ren existed, but were each assassinated). The rogue in the party has the daggers (dex, str), but does not know abut the crystals. They accidentally discovered one in the bell in Nat Wyler's bell. Its vibration was keyed by the rogue defending himself. The bell would resound each time he scored a hit. The crack in the bell (because bells NEED cracks) became exascerbated by the vibration. A soundburst targeted on the bell, by the cleric, shattered the bell. When they later tried to mend it, the found the crystal. I might place the fourth one in Yarash's equipment.
