Hi! I'm new to this forum and I wonder if someone could help me with some background for an adventure I'm preparing?

I was thinking of using "Anvil of Time" from Dungeon Magazine (don't remember which, #86 I think), though it's written for Dragonlance. In the adventure the PCs travel back in time to two different ages and meet mythic NPCs of the past. I thought it would give more "flesh" to our campaign, since the players are quite new to FR.

Well, first (in the original) they meet the knight Soth and Fistandtilus (3rd age), then Huma and his companion Magius (2nd age). I'm looking for appropiate NPCs in the history of FR, but I just can't find any that fit.

Anyone who can help me? Pretty please?

Since I am one of only a few Dragonlance fans here at Candlekeep, I will try to help you out.

Firstly, the Anvil of Time adventure is a very good choice. It is an excellent and very interesting adventure. However I must point out that the information contained within that adventure is not DL novel or game accurate. For example Magius is an older white robe, and Huma is a young upstart, pre-Knights of Solamnia.

Okay, now to address your points -

Fistandantilus, would probably be the easiest character to find an appropriate NPC for in the Realms. That of the Zulkir of Necromancy, Szass Tam. But then again only the Simulacrum of Fistandantilus was represented in the module, and that was of CR7. Lord Loren Soth (Pal10 - CR10) would be a little more difficult, since there are no death knights of this kind in Faerun. I can not think of a relevant NPC at the moment.

Magius could be represented by any number of NPC's, but I would suggest avoiding such NPC's as Khelben, or Elminster. Magius is regarded as a level 10 wizard for this module.

Huma Dragonbane is another difficult choice. Considering he is not even a Knight of Solamnia in the module would then suggest that he is just a simple and disciplined fighter. So taking that into consideration, any Realms NPC of FTR8 levels would be a relevant suggestion.

My best suggestion would be to simply take these stats as presented in the module and generate some Realms based NPC's for your campaign. This will be a lot easier and allow you to tailor the NPC's to suit your particular choice of campaign.
