Posted - 15 Jan 2009 : 05:07:45 Can the Stone Metamorphosis spell create Sickstone (Underdark pg 105)? Sickstone is listed as a Magimorphic rock, as is Crumblestone. The spell explicitly allows for the transmutation of crumblestone.
What volume of sickstone is reasonably required to produce its sickly illumination? (a pebble, 1 cubic foot, 10 cubic feet?)
Assuming the first answer is yes and a cubic foot for the second answer then a 20th level caster of Greater Stone Metamorphosis could create 210 "ammunition rocks" of sickstone per casting. With a radius of effect of 40 feet per sickstone, that would cover an area of just over a million square feet or roughly 1000 feet x 1000 feet.
Using flying undead (or other creatures immune to the sickstone effect) and some continual darkness spells to cover a nocturnal bombing run, I would imagine an army encampment could be decimated by this tactic.
Other than the moral implications of using radioactive waste to create a magical dirty bomb, can anyone see any rules mistakes in this plan? |
