Posted - 24 Jul 2003 : 17:45:28 I had this idea that SEVEN DMs can't work out. If you had someone drink a Potion of Dimunation, and then put them in a Jar of Preservation, they would be able to remain there forever and ever, Right? The Jar description says anything in there is essentially "frozen in time" so the potion will never wear off. Is this right or not? |

Living in a jar would be fun. Kinda. But if you think about it, how would the little person in the jar breathe? if you put air holes into the lid, wouldnt that be the same as breaking the jar, and the enchantment? Im probably wrong though...
If the being in the jar is frozen in time they will not need to breath. Time would stop all body functions would stop and all detrimental effects from not breathing would be halted also. |

Posted - 26 Jul 2003 : 13:51:36 You could always use the spell "Shatter" to release someone from the jar. If you could give it a time limit like "Delayed Blast Fireball". Call the new spell "Delayed Shatter"? |

Posted - 25 Jul 2003 : 14:15:20 Hence...modifications .
Although, an interesting addition to that would be to find some way to release the people inside at a pre-designated time. That way something like I was describing could probablt be achieved...I think I have just found an interesting new item for the Magic Shop, although it will require some work and alternate spell research .

Posted - 25 Jul 2003 : 13:54:46 Well, then you'd have a problem just with the activation. If they're frozen in time, then how would they know when to get out?
Maybe it should just be with that potion, then a quick dispel . . . . |

Posted - 25 Jul 2003 : 13:27:39 With a few modifications to this idea I could definitely see a number of assassin guilds making particular use of this idea. What better way to get close to your target and wait until they are alone.

Posted - 25 Jul 2003 : 07:20:16 Ooo! I like. I've heard about this sort of thing as a punishment before -- being frozen in time to serve out a crime sentance, knowing that when you wake up, everyone you know will be old or dead, and all your assets will have been taken by the government.
Scary, really, don't you think? |

Posted - 25 Jul 2003 : 04:03:21 I like this idea as well. In fact you have provided a nice little way to teach a particular player in my group a lesson in humility.

Posted - 24 Jul 2003 : 22:08:21 After reading the descriptions of both the spell and item, it looks like it would work. Since they are frozen in time the spell would not wear off. I'll have to keep that idea in mind. |

I would say that, if the description of the jar says that anything put into it is frozen in time, and the person who drunk the potion was able to fit in the jar, they'd in there until the jar broke or someone let them out.
Then of course would be the problem of just how much time had elapsed and wether or not former occupents would wither to dust in seconds... |

Posted - 24 Jul 2003 : 20:46:08 My question is why would someone want to do that? Obviously an evil character who wants this person on his mantlepiece for show and tell!

Posted - 24 Jul 2003 : 17:49:29 I'm not a DM but I think he would be able to live in the jar. It's sounds like it acordding to the discriptions but some people might say it's up to ther DM. |
