Not that I don't like Dalereckoning, but it's been noted that there are many different ways throughout the realms to mark the years. Seems logical that as of 1385 DR somebody would have started at 0 SP (Spellplague) or PS (Post Spellplague) or something. |

Posted - 21 Aug 2008 : 17:32:25 Oh, I don't know about the Netherese starting the calendar. I believe they are still on the Old Netheril calendar, refusing to "dignify" those upstarts in the barbarian wilds. |

Posted - 21 Aug 2008 : 17:24:11 We used to have many calenders for FR, but over the years the designers (and NOT just the latest ones) felt it was too confusing (which it was) and just used DR for everything.
Note: Just because DR is used in the sourcebooks, that doesn't mean that particular region mentioned in the excerpt uses that reckoning. That is to facilitate us, the reader.
Yes, I think a new calender would and should be started by someone. I'm thinking the Netherease would call it Year 1: The Year of Shar Ascendent |

Posted - 21 Aug 2008 : 17:03:45 Technically I think it would and you should feel free to do so in your campaign. I think the designers didn't bother just to simplify and keep everything in Dalereckoning (hence the very slight mention of other Reckonings within the book). |

Posted - 21 Aug 2008 : 16:08:43 Maybe, but it would be year 1 after the spellplague with the spellplague being the point in time from where the new year would start (and be completed 365 day later). |
