Anybody know what sources have the most info on doing that? I have the Underdark book which has nothing, and the MM has only the LA. Is there something better?

Thanks

Another possibility can be found here ...

... meant for drow (6th level+) only though.

The Wizards had a drider template on their savage progression sites too.

Thanks for the help.

There's actually a nice 10 level progression for a drider in Savage Species, it treats it like a class. So I ended up doing both, adding it according to the race and as a 10 level PrC for drow.

OK cool, I have MM 2. That's some help, thank you.

The thing is it HAS to start at level one.

Well, let me show you what I'm doing:

http://forum.bouncyrock.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=109

My friend is making the drider for NWN2 as a creature (there's a female version that's more detailed, but probably not appropriate. You can find it if you want, it's on that same forum). My job is basically to get the thing to show up in the game after he does the modelling, which is easy enough. However we've decided to add them as a playable race, probably a underdark oriented persistant world or 2 would use them as well as whoever just wants to play as a drider.

So I've basically got to figure out what feats, ability adjustments, and what have you a first level drider would start with. Can't adjust the HD because that's handled elsewhere, so they'll gain hit points by class. There's some limitations I'm working under. Basically everything would be handled under feats. Like for their natural attack, they'd get a "Drider Natural Attack" feat that changes the base damage and adds poison to their unarmed attack. See what I'm saying?

Basically I was hoping something like p.128 "Githyanki as player characters" of the MM was out there for driders. If not, I'd sure appreciate any advice on how to do it.

Thanks again.

I think you're thinking of the tauric template, which should be in MM II and Savage Species.

Well, I can't find that particular reference, but you can check out the Savage Species supplement, page 163, which has their monster class and starting abilities. I don't really know the rules for posting stuff like that here, but if you've got the book, you can do one of two things. First, you can either start as a first level character and go through the monster class as normal, or you can start as their effective character level (10 I believe), with all the abilities. To do the latter, just take all the class abilities from the monster class and add them in with the starting abilities.

Hope that helped.

I seem to recall reading about a drider variant that is more of a template than a race. In this case, it applied to creating driders that are not created from drow. I'll poke around my reservoir and see if I can find it. It's highly possible, however, that it was in a book I don't own.
