has anyone worked up a weather system for Faerun, both pre-shade return and/or after? i'm trying to determine the amount of damage the shade enclave has done to the weather patterns across the continent(late '72-'75ish). i've read the return...archwizards, and it had some great examples; but i was hoping for some type of candlekeep dopplar radar or something.

thanks in advance.

The "Shining South" book has weather tables for the Shining South for the 4 seasons. Also in some of the older 2E and 3E books/box sets like Calimport, Empire of the Sands, Lands of Intrigue give information on weather patterns of the year, like average temperature, amount of rainfall/snowfall, etc for places like Amn, Tethyr and Calimshan.

Not sure if there is a current map of what the area looks like, but you could look at the map of how Netheril at its Height looked in the GHotR, it's probably going to end up a bit like that after some time has passed and the desert has retreated some.

As mentioned, The Elminster Ecologies box set, and the Appendices [which are available as free PDF downloads at WotC], cover the weather conditions of Faerūn somewhat. See also the "Weather" section in Silver Marches. In addition, several 2e tomes that cover specific regions of the Realms -- for example, Anauroch, The Great Glacier, and The Moonshaes -- give specific details on weather types and weather conditions for those regions.

I thought as much, I may even use it as a little aside for my game I'm running in Turmish. A huge spike in the market price of food, leading to tricky merchant dealings, etc. Might even be the type of event that would start the domino's going on the main arch I wrote for the game (pesky players and their free will).

Yep, the whole huge drought thing didn't really do much. At least not that I noticed, there may have been some comments about it in some novels I haven't read, but otherwise I haven't heard a peep about it.

A lot of the weather patterns have never been detailed in canon printed material. You could look in the El's Ecologies box set and add ons for some info though.

nobody has anything? With all the knowledge contained within these halls, I thought this would be easier.
