Finally managed to track down a friend with a copy. Awesome spells in that tome BTW.
Loved the little lore nugget that most simple intelligent swords (int less than 13) have been bound with a dog spirit, as they are wont to track down or point to things of interest for their masters. Might have to use that knowledge in an upcoming session involving a sentient dagger...

Posted - 24 Jun 2013 : 23:48:34 Well, as I recall the Intelligence comes from the skill of the crafter. A smart sword is a result of the skill and a component of luck. There is no soul trapping required.
All intelligent swords were not people or souls of other races. It should be noted that some swords capture part of the soul, like moon blades , and clearly a soul can be trapped into a sword. |
