Well, the folks at Wizards have decided to start a new column: Prestige Classes. According to the site, "This column by Wil Upchruch provides players with tips on creating effective and interesting characters through the use of a prestige class."

The first entry is the Thayan Gladiator.

Been meaning to post this one:

The Vengeance Knight, from Champions of Ruin.

Itīs a good article. I like of the idea of see a little more of how the Prestige Classes are created - and starting with a Realms PrC is always a good start.

KnighterrantJR, once again you are brilliant with your simple fix. I shall keep that in mind should my friend decide to become that PrC.

When I first read that PrC when I got Champions of Ruin I thought that it was kind of limited in scope, and yet, now that I read Wil's column, it occurs to me, would Thayans in Westgate or Hillsfar be willing and able to sell this proceedure to to some of the slave owners and/or gladiators there? It might widen the scope of the PrC without even tweaking it much.

Indeed, it's also a useful insight into its creation. However, I also see no reason why a slightly tweaked version (in terms of history) wouldn't be viable for using as a generic gladiator PrC.

Very useful column. Thanks Wooly.
