A little thing while I'm here looking Ed's answers :

From EnWorld, the only FR product on january-april 2007 catalogue :

A Forgotten Realms Super-Adventure
Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave
Richard Baker, Bruce R. Cordell, David Noonan, Matthew Sernett, and James Wyatt

Cormyr: The Tearing of the Weave is the first-ever Forgotten Realms hardcover super-adventure! Designed to take characters from 4th to 8th level, the adventure pits the heroes against the evil agents of Shar and Cyric as they plot to corrupt the worship of Mystra, goddess of magic. The adventure begins in Cormyr, but the characters must also travel to the Plane of Shadow to thwart the villians machinations.
This adventure can be run as a standalone adventure or as Part One of an epic three-part series of hardcover adventures set in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting.
March 20, 2007
160 page hardcover
$29.95/$37.95 CAN

So, no FR lore between DoF and next April

Great arc of three 'epic' adventures?

Hmmm...

I have flashback, where a great arc of three adventures (Shadowdale, Tantras and Waterdeep) were actually a ploy to make the transition from 1E to 2E in the Realms...

Pros: great adventure

Cons: new edition = new rulebooks and more $$$ spent

I'll take the adventures, but as I said earlier, I'll happily remain in 3.5

PS: for those who find it ironic that some of us do not want to move from 3.5 and use this to substantiate their staying in 2E, let me remind them this: I have played in the Realms' great sandbox since the old gray box. I have moved from 1E to 2E via the avatar trilogy adventures, which I DMed; I have moved from 2E to 3E via the RPGA, who REQUIRES people to bring a copy of the rules at the gaming table; I have moved from 3E to 3.5 very reluctantly, and only after realizing that 3E had been sabotaged from the start, and that the 3.5 fixes could not be ignored any longer -- despite being furious about this, I switched to 3.5 nonetheless out of pure concern for in-game mechanics (remember, I'm always the DM... ALWAYS, and I could not bear copy-pasting those spells from the SRD anymore, whenever I needed to stat out a villain... this was horribly time-consuming).

So here I am: 3.5, and staying, after having invested thousands of dollars in it, my library is complete, and I have every monster from the MM in miniature plastic form... (figure of speech... almost, but not quite) I'll buy FR stuff, and FR adventures. But everything will be 3.5 from now on, for the rest of my days, and I just hope I'll keep finding players who won't make the switch and agree with me!

I'm excited to see Cordell, Wyatt and Baker in the author's list.

That tells me we'll get solid game mechanics and (with a little luck) a better helping of 3E mechanics to simulate cool places/effects that are unique to Cormyr.

My friend I think its worse than that

Have serious doubts that where going to see a Regional source book for the FR at all in 2007

Cormyr: Tearing of the Weave will likely be the first 3ed FR product I pass on

Why not give it a chance before you pass your judgement, Dargoth

I too have skipped a few products lately. I've not been overly happy with CoR, CoV or MoM. CoS and PoF were great though.
As for the adventures, I'll have to see whether I have any use for them or not.

If one of them bears your name (or Ed, Georges, Steven), I'll change my mind, don't worry

look at the autors. This could be a great book...well, a three part adventure seems too much but...we'll see. I like MotM.

Hope at least in one regional book next year. Maybe the Dalelands or Moonshaes.

Well, I have passed on several products lately. This seems to be another one. There is always the possibility of it containing a good deal of lore, but from the short description I feel it is lore I might ignore anyway. It seems to be more shaking and breaking of the realms.

Well, I have been known to make mistakes, from time to time. This could be one of those times.

Eric makes an excellent point. Even in DoF, we tried to fit in a good chunk of lore. I think adventures are the best way to introduce interesting lore because people experience it rather than just reading it.

Hardcover, and in three parts!

All praises to Moradin!

Hardcover?!?!?
Faraer Posted - 21 Jul 2006 : 19:28:05
Eric's own scenarios, along with Ed's FRE1-3 Avatar modules, are chief among the proof that adventures can be a great vehicle for source material.

But it's fair to say that 3 160-page books is a big chunk of the next few years' Realms releases. The big adventure that the Realms never got, though, is a low- to mid-level one that showed you how to bring to life in play the Realms of Ed's histories, current clack, and campaigns, not one smelling of RSE crap

and specifically, RSE crap that further establishes gods acting directly in Faerūn as a norm of the published Realms.

Mod edit: Edited for content.
