Hey, Paizo just opened up a new thread on their forums to give out some teasers info about the new Dragon Compendium Volume One, and they started with this blurb to advertise it:
The DRAGON Compendium, Volume 1 features updated information on Races, Classes, Prestige Classes, Magical Items and Equipment, Feats, Monsters, and a whole chapter devoted to DRAGON classics such as Gary Jordan’s Tesseracts and Ed Greenwood’s Runestones articles. Other updated content includes information on such favorites as:
* The Death Master by Len Lakofka
* The Jester by Roger E. Moore
* Solo Dungeons by Gary Gygax
* The Chi-Square Test by D.G. Weekes
Plus... more than 30 monsters, including the bleeder beholder and the orange, purple, and yellow dragons. Check out this space each week at paizo.com for sneak peeks into this Fall’s biggest release from Paizo Publishing. We’ll feature pdf preview pages, design diaries, a look at some brand new artwork, and much more as we draw closer to the release date for The DRAGON Compendium, Vol. 1.

I think Tom has a PrC called Battledancer out of Chult in his PrCs PDF. |

Trying to think back here, but wasn't the battledancer actually a class designed for Chult, or am I delusional right now. The Sha'ir also has a bit of a Realms link since the class originally came out for the Al-Qadim setting in 2nd Edition. |

I was actually intrigued by that PrC... If I was going to play a druid, I'd try that one out. I don't really like druids as PCs, but that's one I could get into, I think.
As the Glass Walkers have pointed out: nature exists in cities, too.
It's a perfect urban character. Very skill based and really suited me because I could bring things into the game from sources such as Mary Gentle's White Crow books. |

The Table of Contents of the Dragon Compendium Volume One is posted, so that you can get an idea of what they have decided to throw into this one. Also, Erik Mona as intimated that future editions of the Dragon Compendium might have themes, i.e. Ed Greenwood articles, Forgotten Realms artices, planar articles, etc.

Ah, 'twould be 32,7MB Pre-grey Box Articles, and 17,4MB Post-grey Box Articles (the latter including at least one article I've copied into a word-filed and converted myself though, but 'tis only one page, so that should have little effect on the size methinks). The total page-count is about 500 pages or so (after I've tweaked one or two articles from the pre-grey box era in word in order to avoid one-paragraph pages and such due to ads taking up place and making the end of the article "continue on page 49"). |

Quite useful, made it possible to do a quick search for Runestones for Alaundo, just now

I've just started doing just that with some of my favurite-articles from the issues after 250 (just 3 of the New Adventures of Volo, and Ed's Crimmor-article in issue #335 so far). It's a huge project, but on the positive side, I always have something to do when I'm home |

One thing that was oddly cool: I had flipped one of Steven Schend's articles to Word. He no longer had a copy of that article handy... So I sent him his own article. |

Define old Alaundo, I purchased the Dragon 1-250 CD a while back and extracted all the FR-articles (using the index that can be found on this site) in order to put them in one pdf-file. Let's just say it would be a lot of pages in that Compendium
Runestones btw, details just that - stones carved with runes. In the article it is revealed that these are dwarven writings and can be used for both magical and non-magical purposes (genealogy records, "treasure-verses," burial markers, etc) in addition, it would appear that it is in this article that Ed first reveals the Dethek alphabet (although I wouldn't be surprised if some more senior scribe can tell me I'm wrong). Oh, and Elminster apparently has a weakness for piña coladas. |

I have actually been quite looking forward to this and was hoping to see articles of old being featured within. I'm not sure of the origins and content of those articles listed. It would be useful to hear which issues of Dragon they have been taken from.
"Runestones" article by Ed, eh? It doesn't ring a bell with me, can anybody else enlighten?
Of course, ideally, an FR Dragon Compendium would be just perfect - featuring all old FR articles in one tome |
