The real question here is... will we also be seeing the gibbering mouther symbiotes sometimes down the line?

Posted - 10 Oct 2004 : 22:22:51 I just played in a local Aberration release tournament yesterday... won 3rd place! yay!
I have two advices for you if you plan to win in such an out-of-the-box tournament:
1. Fiendish Giant Praying Mantis (I had it, and lays serious waste in enemy lines... attack weak creatures first, then go for the big ones when the rest of your team arrives!! --> this critter has +7/+7, 20 magic damage each attack!)
2. Hexblade (I didn't have it, but the two opponents I lost against had it... this fig can use 3 curses as a Swift Action, each giving you -4 to hit, -4 to saves, -5 to damage... and this power is line of sight!) |

Posted - 01 Oct 2004 : 17:50:05 As is usual when I see a minis set list, the first place my eyes go is to the commons, and then the uncommons, trying to find what I will need the most of, and hope beyond hope that they will be stastistically crappy in the game, so I can get good deals on them in bulk once the monkey-on-the-back collecters are done getting their precious rares.
Good group of commons this set, it seems, wit ha nice mix of humanoids for lackeys and minjions, and monstrous humanoids, and even(joy!) a common gnoll.
That, and any day there are kobold minis is a good day.
Looking at the uncommons, I see a few nice ones that could become "crap uncommons" and flood the market, like the tiefling captain and dretch did back in the day.
Of the rares, as usual, the ones that strike out at me as ones I want are going to be the NPCs, not the monsters, unless you count the odd mindflayer or dragon. |

I may pick up the odd one or two (Realms specific ones of course) from ebay.
It depends on what purpose you want the minis for
If your buying them as a Collector then you probably shouldnt even buy a single expansion, you can buy them indviduelly from various online stores.
I am how ever using them in my FR campaign so 10 Orc archers isnt really a problem |

A Gnome Cleric and a Cleric of Saint Cuthbert
Can someone please explain why a Gnome Cleric or Cleric of Saint Cuthbert are classed as Aberrations?
There has been some thought on this.
Several people over on the WotC boards have suggested that these minis merely missed out on being included in other early expansion packs. It has been said that they were included in Aberrations, to provide a full and complete set of minis for this expansion.

The theme of the box name ussually only means 5-10 of the minis in the set are tied to the Boxs theme. Just because the sets called Aberrations doesnt mean all the minis will be aberrations |

Well funnily enough I was just about to ask a very similar thing.... Ive only just gone over to the WotC site to take a look over the past Mini's image galleries, and noticed numerous mini's which related in no way to the expansion title. The most extreme being Giants of Legend!
I'd also have been much happier if they had produced a specific FR mini's expansion rather than throwing a handful of Realms-specifics in a generic pack. |

That certainly got my interest! I havent got any of the D&D minis (due to the randomization of the packs). It would have been nice to release a small "War of the Spider Queen" pack with all the characters from the series and a few monsters thrown in |
