Posted - 21 Jan 2004 : 13:42:48 I'm not sure how many of you keep up with this regular feature on the FR website, but I sometimes find some interesting ideas that I can build upon for my own games.
This month, we have been presented with some new and interesting information of the Moonstars, and their activities when operating under Khelben's directives.
It's located here. Just use the links at the bottom to visit the different parts of the series.

Oh that sounds great indeed, especially if it is actually true. Is this 'Waterdeep' novel part of a trilogy, or just something to tie-in with the Waterdeep sourcebook due out around the same time?.
From the impression I got before departing the WOTC board, most likely a new sourcebook focusing on Waterdeep will come out the same time the novel does around August 2005 or thereabouts. The novel is a stand alone although I expect it to be huge in quantity of pages. |

Posted - 26 Feb 2004 : 12:23:07 I'd agree with Blackstaff Tower as well, at least for the early formation years of the organisation. But once the group starts becoming more involved with current Realms events, they'll most likely set up somewhere (secretly) else...

Now that I come to think of it, where is the main Moonstar headquarters, or main meeting place located?.
It's supposed to tie in with the new Waterdeep sourcebook. Hmm the main headquarters, well maybe Khelben's tower or that extradimensional space that is set up for the Moonstars...... |

Okay so I've got the book with me. But before I begin, are there any novels that deal with the Moonstars in some way, or at least are there any FR adventure modules?.
I don't recall any novels nor adventure modules dealing with the Moonstars. I suppose the upcoming (next yr!) Waterdeep novel might have some Moonstar info since Ed and Elaine are writting it together and Khelben probably will appear in it maybe...... |

Listen to The Sage. The formation of the Moonstars and the organization itself are given several richly detailed pages in Cloak and Dagger. |

Posted - 25 Feb 2004 : 01:59:35 Yes Lady, the tome I keep telling you about is Cloak and Dagger. It has some details about the Moonstars, as well as a few pages on the Schism. Italso accurately mentions Khelben's very big part in whole affair. Although, not much has been written about the organisation since them, and we are all still awaiting a sourcebook of some kind which will at least carry some of the 2e information forward.

Posted - 24 Feb 2004 : 09:30:28 Ah, Thornhold, yes I'd heard about that novel and it's supposed ties to the Harper 'Schism' storyline. It's ashame now to know that what I learned is now not true.

This information really isn't that useful, although since I still don't know alot about the Harpers and the 'Schism' that lead to the formation of the Moonstars it's still a little hard for me to jugde important information.
Was there a sourcebook that detailed the rift between the two factions of Harpers?.
The rift between the two factions wasnt covered as far as im aware and the only decent sourcebook detailed almost everything about the Harpers is Code of the Harpers. However, some say that the Thornhold novel (Harpers series book 16) is the big Harpers organization rift explanation....... alas, I was disappointed that this was not the case when I finally got around to reading it last year |
