I think I've only posted over there two or three times, but every few days I swing by the Wizards boards and read the headlines. Here's a thread that caught my eye.

The Forgotten Realms design team is seeking your feedback

Play nice!

Or, as Brian James says in the post that kicks off that thread:

quote:
This thread should remain specific and constructive; its purpose to help us prioritize future Realmslore articles. This is not the proper place tell us the things you hate most about the 4E Realms. Of course, some solutions/revelations are already in the works. The fate of Mask, for instance, will be revealed in an upcoming Paul Kemp novel series.

(Oh, and in case it's not clear, you gotta post over there for them to see it for sure.)

I just mentioned the first things that came to my mind. Just say something, even if it isn't everything you wanted to say.

Well, for the record, I did leave some feedback.

Well the site is blocked for me here so I can't leave any feedback.

Thanks for the link. If I get the missing info I need, then they might still be able to sell me on the 4e Realms. I am not holding my breath though, as a consumer-friendly company they have flunked this past year (IMO). Paizo is where my hopes are now.

You're right. When money is on the line, they are very interested in feedback, as this thread shows. They are asking for feedback in DDI to see what their consumers want after they have to start paying for it 'sometime in October'. What will be interesting is seeing what they are going to do with the information they are getting.

Thanks Ashe for that thread. Its really a nice read if you like sarcasm, hehe.

We will have to see what they make of my comments at WotC.

That's kinda my position as well. I've got a few suggestions that I'd like to make, but they're mostly all areas/aspects of the Realms that haven't seen much attention since the days of 2e.

I might offer up one specific request [since it's very much an idea similar to what Brian did with the "Auril" article]... just to see what type of response I'll get.

Alternatively, this might be an opportunity to suggest an article on music in the Realms. Heh. After all, I've got plenty of Realms-related music lore just sitting here, that's been compiled from practically every Realms source published. I'll even offer my assistance to those assigned to writing such an article!

Only in specific ways that they themselves choose. When I was on those forums, I suggested them doing a poll asking what we wanted, and one of their web guys came in and told me point blank that they did not want that kind of feedback.

So maybe it's just me, but when someone representing a company says that the company doesn't want feedback, that indicates to me that they don't want feedback.

I think it's ironic that ever since they announced 4E at GenCon and that the Realms were going to get the first treatment, there had been some very vocal posters on the WotC boards about what they think. WotC had ignored most of these posts, and went the route that led to this point. Now, that there has been very vocal protests with many of the 'grognards' saying they won't purchase the new Realms, they are asking for our input.

Not to mention that they are about to start charging for DDI and they STILL don't have a release date for the Character Builder and other tools. So they have to really market the hell out of the Dungeon and Dragon articles.

Wooly, that banning was your own fault. Being caught in flagrante' dilecto with the wife of the CEO of Wizards? For shame, sir.

Wooly Rupert Posted - 29 Sep 2008 : 00:19:55
After having been directly told, several years back, that such feedback was not desired, I'm surprised that they're now asking for it.

I kinda wish I could reply to that thread, but I will not do so while my wrongful banning remains in effect.

I'll check it out.
