Ed's new column on the WotC FR website is up and running. For originality, they've named it "Realmslore". The first submission is a discussion on a tax levied in Cormyr during the Dragonwar. Good stuff for those DMs planning to run a campaign there around that time.

I also had a terrible time with site navigation. In fact I recall sending an email once, and the reply I received simply stated, that out of all the site navigation designs they had as options for the site, the current one was the best.
::Shudder::. It makes me think what the other designs were probably like.

Heh. My two-and-a-half year old niece is currently fixated on two videos whenever she comes over here, one of them being Mulan. Needless to say, I now know every one of the songs in it . . . . 
I'll have to look into his columns. There was some interesting stuff on the Realms back when it was TSR's website. Either that or it was during the changeover . . . either way, the site was hard to navigate at the time. I got disintrested in it, since I couldn't find consectutive articles -- especially the part-X-of-Y ones.
I'll have to go back and hunt for interesting stuff again. |

The newest article deals with the relatively new practice of 'matchmaking' in the Realms, specifically a notable matchmaker of Sembia.

It really all depends on what type of information on the Realms that you are looking for. The first two articles dealt with a period during the Year of the Unstrung Harp, when a special tax was introduced into the kingdom of Cormyr to compensate for the chaos that followed the 'Devil Dragon'. If you like the smaller aspects of details for your campaign, then the information here could prve useful.

I havent even read one of them yet. Im a little behind with the WotC site updates but I dont tend to find them of that much use, obviously im a collector or Realmslore so ill always download anything and everything that WotC put up there. Are they worth reading? The Elminster Speaks articles and Perilous Gateways went on far too long and after a while I got quite bored of them. |

Re the title, at least with this column more people will know the term Realmslore.
I don't like the focus on events of the WotC timeline and would rather see the unpublished lore backlog worked on. Still, it's a great example of how you can turn company-mandated events into useable content for your campaign, and as all of Ed's writing it provides much information aside from its nominal topic. |

It is good stuff indeed George. Although, the fact that it is written by Ed Greenwood should be reason enough to think that it will be good . I like the more local approach of the article, it utilises alot of what makes the Realms interesting, flavor-wise. Here's hoping all the continuing articles will be just as good. Anyway, for those interested, it's located here
Finally, I don't know about George, but I'd be interested to know what everyone thinks of this new column.
