'The epic struggle of a family...and a nation. Cormyr has been ruled by the Obarskyr family since its inception one and a half millennia ago. Now its king, Azoun IV, lies on his deathbed, and the vultures are circling, hoping to usurp the throne for their own. Against the crisis of state, the history of the Forest Kingdom unfolds, relating the previously untold story of a nation, its rulers, and its wizards'. Other titles in the Cormyr Saga: |

This was one of the most amazing things I've read in along time. I completely forgive Ed Greenwood for writing that disgusting novel "spellfire." This book shows an entire history, thousands of years, with never loosing interest. The second is pretty good too, these are almost Salvatore level. |

If you have never read any Forgotten Realms books, start here. Cormyr: A Novel brings to life an incredible history of the Cormyrean lands. The authors bounce between an ascending timeline and a current timeline. Of course, there is an epic struggle and the usual treachery you will find within said kingdoms. The selling point of this novel is the history, hands down. This happens to be book one in a trilogy, so an alternate selling point is obvious - the brilliant history sets the reader up for an epic among epics in the following two books. You'll get feverishly attached to brilliant cast of characters that are presented, and may even find yourself having a quiet cry. Read it, and let me know what you think. Any fellow Cormyreans out there? |
