Faced with racism, Drizzt contemplates returning to the lightless underworld city and murderous lifestyle he abandoned.  Wulfgar begins to overcome his tribe's aversion to magic.  And Regis runs from a deadly assassin, who, allied with evil wizards, is bent on the companion' destruction.  All of Bruenor's dreams, and the survival of his party, hinge upon the actions of one brave young woman'.

Rating: GoodGoodGood
This novel was more interesting for the events that happen in it than how it was written. Although it was written by R.A. Salvatore , it didnt seem to be as well written or thought out as 'The Crystal Shard'. (Actually , the part I found most similiar was on the very last page.) In fact , a group of adventurers seeking something while being followed isnt even that original at all. Yet when they finally get to Mithral Hall , the story did pick up a bit.

A lot of the northern reaches of Faerun were travelled , but most were insignificant places like Longsaddle , however Silverymoon was discovered and Alustriel introduced.

That said , the novel can still be easily carried by its characters. Added to the originals from 'The Crystal Shard' was the very evil Artemis Entreri. He was written well , but I still dont like the idea of him being THAT good. I know he is meant to be like Drizzt's exact opposite , but everyone Salvatore creates cant be 'the best at what they do'.

Cover - Another excellent cover with all characters still in form. Bruenor is improved upon and showing his equipment , yet Wulfgar's arms seem to be a bit out of proportion.
